Happy Birthday Tallulah!

Hey Everybody! Today is my 5th Birthday!

Happy Birthday Tallulah! I hope you have many more.

Unfortunately, my master felt it necessary to take me to the vet on my birthday - yuck! It was just for a blood test but I still don't like going.

Hey that is not me since that dog looks way too happy to be at the vets!

Now that I'm done with that, I get to spend the day with my friend Rex!

The other thing we want to tell you about today is that Lacy at Catholic Icing has created a neat way to learn your prayers and practice your writing and it's just $2. Click here to learn more.

Happy Canada Day!

Hi Everybody!

We hope you are having a super Canada Day! We are lazing around enjoying the day.

Did you know Tallulah that the Patron Saint of Canada is Saint Joseph!
So you mean that Jesus' dad here on earth is the special saint that looks out for Canada? That is so cool!

Here is a picture of Joseph and Jesus that you can colour. Download it from the Catholic Playground.

It's a rainy day so if you have to stay inside here is a fun Canada Day activity...and delicious too!

Trust in the good Lord!

Today we hear the story of Jesus and his friends getting caught in a storm while in their boat.

I would have been scared too Cloë. I like to swim, but I'm not as good a swimmer as you are.

Well Talllulah, I will confess that I may have been a bit afraid if the boat was being rocked like that. But the important thing is to always trust in God.

So even when life gets rough and you are nowhere near the water,

ask Jesus for help and trust that he's got your back!

For instance, even though I have this incurable disease, Jesus is going to make sure I'm ok right Cloë?!

That's right Tallulah. He does that by giving you a good and caring vet

and a master who makes sure you get your medication.

For all the dad's out there - Happy Father's Day!

And if you still don't have a present for dad, here is an easy idea.

Summer is coming!

It's a beautiful sunny day today! We are very happy since yesterday we got so wet during our morning walk.

One of the things we like to do during the lazy summer months is to catch up on our reading.

Today we got an email with a list of some interesting books that we wanted to share with you.

Book #1 - St. John Bosco and His Big Gray Dog by Hayley Medeiros

It is hard to believe that anyone would have ever wanted to hurt good Father John Bosco. He helped so many people. But there were times when his life was in danger. During those times, a very special guardian would appear to protect him. In this way, God saved the holy priest from harm so he could complete his mission and help children come to know God.

Book #2 - The Story of Job by Regina Doman
Once Upon a Time there was a man named Job. And Job loved God. And God loved Job. After a catastrophic family tragedy, Regina Doman told her children the Story of Job. Now in a book with child-friendly illustrations, the story is prepared to help other parents and kids explore the question: Why does God allow good people to suffer?

Book #3 - Miraculous Me by Ruth Pendergast Sissel

What thoughts crossed your mother's mind the first time she saw you? What dreams did your father hold in his heart? Told from the perspective of a baby in utero whose parents are seeing the ultrasound picture for the first time.

All of these books can be ordered online, click here. Or better yet if you live near Cornwall, Ontario ask mom and dad to take you to the Catholic Information Centre (146 Chevrier) where they have tons of great books for kids in both French and English.

Happy reading! Woof!

A Busy Week

Hi Everybody!

We are back! We, well actually our master/typist has just been really busy!

So we did many exciting things this past week, but we also have some very sad news.

Yesterday we went to the cottage for the first time this season. Our master and granny were very busy getting things ready so we mostly had to hang around and try to avoid the mosquitoes.

We did get to swim once!

On Saturday we participated in the WALK for ALS.

A.L.S. is a disease that destroys something called the motor neurons. Motor neurons are the messengers from our brain that tell our muscles what to do.
For some reason these messengers stop working for people with A.L.S. Suddenly these people can't do simple things like you and me, things like walking and eating. To learn more about A.L.S. and to print this maze download the ALS Activity Book

This past Thursday we were at St. Columban's to celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi.

Did you know Cloë that Corpus Christi is Latin and that it means the Body of Christ! But what I don't understand is why we heard the same readings on Sunday that we heard on Thursday?!

Well Tallulah, the actual feast day is 60 days after Easter. But since most people are at work or in school, the feast day gets moved to the following Sunday.

Here are some pictures from the procession they had after Mass. The first is Father Jerome and you can just see the Blessed Sacrament above his head. The second is the procession and if you look closely you can see us in the middle, well at least me!

And finally our very sad news. Our cousin Ripley died yesterday.

We know you were all praying for him but he was just too sick. We are very sad and we are going to miss him so much! But we know that someday we will see him again.

Thank you all for praying for him. Please say a little prayer for Ripley's masters who are very sad.

Treasures & Ripley

Hi Everybody!

First we would like to thank you for all the prayers for our cousin Ripley. He is still in the hospital but he seems to be doing a bit better. We should have more news tomorrow.

And while you are praying please remember to pray for the people of Nepal. They had a terrible earthquake and many people died and even more have lost their home. Nepal is on the other side of the world so it's very hard to help, but prayers are very important.

On a happier note we have heard that many of our friends went to see our master and all the treasures of the diocese.

It is only open for 2 more days so we hope you get there.

Prayers for Ripley

Hi Everybody!

Today we are very sad and worried. Our cousin Ripley has had a terrible week and now he is having an operation. We are not sure if he is going to make it. Please pray for him. Please ask St. Francis who loves all animals to pray for him.

Thank you. Woof.

Jesus is Alive

Happy Easter Everybody!

We were so busy at Mass

(this is the cross at our parish)

and then hunting for Easter eggs and then having supper at our granny's, we completely forgot to write our blog post yesterday! We hope everybody had a great Easter.

And don't forget Cloë we helped our master make this bunny cake - the marshmallows and icing were delicious - remember.

I do Tallulah.

And the good news is that today is just the second day of the 50 day Easter season! so we really are not late at all.

Here is a video recapping all of Holy Week including Easter.

And here is a fun song that helps you to remember what Jesus' resurrection means.

And another Happy Easter! Woof!

Jesus is Crucified

Today was a very sad day at church Cloë. I can't believe that Jesus died.

It is a sad day Cloë.

But there are 3 important things to remember.

#1: Jesus died to save all the humans because He loves them so much.

#2: Jesus is not really dead. What we did today at church is remember his death that happened 2000 years ago.

#3: Jesus resurrected from the dead on Easter! And He is alive and well in Heaven.

Phew, I am very relieved Cloë I was just so sad and worried.

Easter is not for another day but we found two great ideas for celebrating this very important day and we wanted to give you enough time to make them.

The first is a Resurrection Garden.

Oh that is beautiful Cloë!

It really is Tallulah. If you go to Catholic Icing you can find out how to make it.

The second delicious thing you can do is make Resurrection Rolls. They are easy and it is a neat way to learn more about Jesus being placed in the tomb and what happened on Easter morning.

Click here for the recipe and the story.

The Triduum!

Whoa Cloë! What the heck does Triduum mean?!

Triduum is the word we use to talk about Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter! It's actually one long Mass!

You mean there is a Mass that is longer than the one we went to last Sunday - wow!

There is indeed Tallulah. But the people go home between each part. And each part is only about 1 hour to 1 and a half hours.

So tonight is Thursday, so that must mean the Triduum starts tonight with Holy Thursday!

Very clever Tallulah. Do you know what happens at this part of the Mass?

I sure do, this is when we remember Jesus' last supper with his friends, the apostles.

In fact, I found a craft over at Catholic Icing of the Last Supper.

And do you remember some of the very important things that Jesus did at the Last Supper.

Well I think this is when he turned the bread and wine into his body and blood.

I think he also created the priesthood that night.

Clearly you have been doing some studying Tallulah, I'm very proud of you.

Here is a short video of that Last Supper (+ the rest of the story.)

The Long Mass

Hey Cloë why the heck was Mass so long today?! It felt like we had to wait forever for our master.

Well Tallulah today was Palm Sunday, the first day of Holy Week. Today we heard the story of Jesus coming to Jerusalem and how excited everyone was.

(youtube link: https://youtu.be/gU6JtlIP0eE)

Unfortunately all that excitement did not last and the second Gospel talked all about the arrest and death of Jesus. Do you remember any of the other parts of the story Tallulah?

I sure do. We also heard about the Last Supper, when Jesus gave us the Eucharist (communion.)

(youtube link: https://youtu.be/Y3UKd6LQKng)

Very good Tallulah. We will read all those events again this week, on Holy Thursday and Good Friday.

To help you remember these events in Jesus' life Lacy at Catholic Icing has come up with some really neat crafts.

Have a great Holy Week! Woof!

Happy Birthday Bishop!

Hi Everyone,

Today is a special day for two reasons.

#1 and most important is that it is the feast day of Saint Joseph.

In fact Cloë, it's even bigger than a feast it's a solemnity!

You are right Tallulah. Be sure to check out our blog post from last year for more info about Saint Joseph.

I know you wanted to give the kids a picture to colour Cloë, but I found this delicious looking cake instead! I think this is a better way to celebrate this day, certainly more yummy!

And if you add a few candles to it you can remember Bishop Marcel who is celebrating his birthday today!

Cloë do you see me licking my chops at how good that cake looks!

Always thinking about your stomach aren't you Tallulah!

WOOOOF! WOOOOOF! (that's dog for Happy Birthday.)
